A little piece of information that may be of interest to all.
Bearing in mind that the youngest in my search would now be 130 + years of age and the information is already in the public domain (if you know where to get it), I intend to get a listing, of sorts, covering ALL the residents of Greenwich Hospital School at the time of the 1881 Census.
How did I find it? Well, think on the following points -
1. Each person had to be listed under the address at which they were present at the time of the census - 31st March 1881.
2. 31st March 1881 was, more than likely, during the school term.
3. At the time of the census London was not held as a seperate county as is the case now(?) and was covered by, at least, Middlesex, Surrey and Kent.
4. Greenwich was under the county of Kent at the time.
So all I had to do was to locate one boy from the school. A tall order but with an inspirational thought I searched on the surname of our esteemed colleague Ron Carter.
Imagine the delight when I found one of the many Carters listed under Greenwich was in fact living at -
Greenwich Hospital School

Kent
England
Finding the rest was fairly straight forward but here for starters are the Superintendent's family / household -
